What is Directional Youth?

At our Summer Camp 2003 a purpose filled theme for the future of our Youth Ministry was revealed by our Pastor Mark Brown. Little did anyone known how long Brownie(that's his real name) had desired God's inspiration for a theme that would represent the purpose for our entire Youth Ministry for the years that had gone by and the many years that were to come. The fulfillment of many hours in prayer and meditation during four years of ministering to the Youth of FBBC brought about the announcement that our group would be known as: DIRECTIONAL YOUTH.

In the midst of great Jr.High & H.S. camps, where the Servant Team members and camp speakers emphasized the camp theme of Selfish or Selfless, the Directional Youth thing was thrown at us. Needless to say it was a little fuzzy at first to understand ... until we were given the T-shirts. On the front were the words: DIRECTIONAL YOUTH and on the back was this weird symbol and a Bible verse underneath that read: "Even so as the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and give his life a ransom for many."Matthew20:28

The symbol became cooler and cooler to all of us as we wore the T's and had to go up to people, complete strangers at Camp Windermere, and explain what the symbol on the back of the shirt meant. It was all part of a contest and we "had to do it". Let me take another stab at it for you to understand DY ... but only in person when you come and visit!
